car dieing and idle problems

here is the situation. say im crusing on third, fourth, or fith. im going about 60-100, when i put it in neutral to cost, my car dies. dies meaning the engine cuts out. but the wierd thing is that when its in gear it doednt do this. does this mean that the idle is to low? help plz
