hey guys, its that time of the year again.. and i need to pick up some summer tires. i have 7.5 x 17s and 8.5 by 17s. I was running 205/45/17s and 235/45/17s before on these wheels, but the stretch on these was way to rediculous. I have an S14, and i want to set it up for maximum handling for autocross and mountain runs. I want to throw either the Kumho MX's on, or the Falken Azenis RT615. What size tires would you guys recommend for my rims?

235 on a 8.5 isn't a stretch, it should be perfectly square or more, especially with Falken sizing.

how is a 205 on a 7.5" wide a strecth? or even a 235 on a 8.5" rim....
Since you think those sizes are too small how about 225/245? They should fit decently (although the 225 on a 7.5" rim might look a little bulgy) and provide you with a ton of options with it comes to brands and models.

i think 215 on an 8.5 and 205 on the 7.5 would be an ideal stretch, 225 is a nice stretch on a 9-10" wheel. if you get a tire w/ a flexible sidewall (i think its nexuss or ventus or something) u can stretch 205 all around lol. that would be tight.

i remember on my s13 i was using the 300z rims from the TT. on my 7.5 rim it fit 225, on the 8 it fit 245. that fit with a perfect squareness, and the littlest bulge. so follow that logic.. maybe 205 wasnt a great stretch, :stupid: I dont care about the amount of stretch, im more worried about handling ability :D maybe ill stick with 205/235s? hmm.. any other ideas? when it comes to tires i have the most basic knowledge about sizing.. so im reaching out to my brothas haha. ok, i was just looking at Falkens stupid tire sizes, and the closes thing i could find to what i would use are the 215/40/17s for the front, and 245/45/17s in the rear. Up 10mm from what i was using last time... would 40s up front and 45s in the rear mess anything up? haha.. what do u guys think...

depends on how low your car is. but 215 for a 7.5" and 235 for 8.5 sounds about right if you dont want a stretch

what are you planning to do with a 30mm stagger? drag race?

last time i check 205mm~8in, 235mm~8.85in, so 205 on 7.5 and 235 on a 8.5 is not stretch.

7.5in~190mm, 8.5in~215in, that is what I would run somewhere close to that, probably 195/xx/17 on the 17x7.5, and 215/XX/17 on 17x8.5

Yokohama lists a 205/45 for 6.5-7.5" wheel and 235/45 for a 7.5-9" wheel... No stretch if you ask me...

On the svx with 7 inch wide wheels the 225 series tire is square...245's or 255's rec for the 8.5 for no stretch and 225 235's for the 7.5's

actually....you measured incorectly. You are not susposed to measure the lip. Only the part the tire fits inside of. See wheel width in the diagram on this page.

a 245/40 would be square in the rear. My 235/40's were stretched very slightly on an 8.5 wheel.

225s on the 8
245s on the 9

ftw... good 245 tires are hard to find, kumho MX has that size but rt615 and hankook do not (courtesy: turtl)...
maybe 215/235 falken rt615 if they come in right sizes

What the crap?

RT 615's come in 245/45/17. I was about to buy those, shoot.
Also:
225/45/17
235/40/17 (out in March '06 supposedly anytime now)
255/40/17

www.vulcantires.com to see all sizes (there's more).

MX comes in 245/40/17
RS-2 Z212 comes in 245/40/17

NOTE: Falken sizing on the RT's is BIGGER than most other tires.
