transmission fluid smell

i just got my s14 (95) and when im driving it, theres a weird smell, and im pretty sure its transmission fluid because it smells like shit. just wondering, is there a common problem with 95 s14's where the transmission fluid leaks somewhere? thank you

i am haveing the some problem with my s13 when it get's warmed up i can smell transmission oil,i think it might be my transmssion rear main seal going bad.

your might be leaking from where the shifter is..
-take off the shift boot w/ plastic radio trim
-unscrew the four screws to take the rubber boot that surrounds the shifter

you'll see a circular rubber peice, it's suppose to have a ziptie on to keep from leaking gear oil out. check that out...might be the reason...

check the inner rubber shift boot any little crack can leak that smell.

you're leaking from the shifter... very common problem. XD

could be leaking from the rear main seal too, but i don't know if you'd get the smell in the car.

the rubber boot may simply be cracked from old age. best thing to do is just get a new one.
