Hello,
Im relaying this for Geoff over @ colt cams. DOHC people need not apply.
For the rest of us SOHC people we have nilch selection for billet cams. Geoff wants to buy a lot of billet cams, but only if there is enough LEGITIMATE interest in the community.

Price is not yet determined, he is still waiting on a quote for the blanks and per rules I wont be able to post the price in the thread to play nice with zilvia. The only thing I can tell you is it will be more expensive than a regrind obviously but not much more expensive when you factor the cost of the regular grind, shipping the core, and the machine work all added up not even considering downtime.

He has to buy atleast x billets to get them to make the initial mold. Of course this is a high number and a ton of money. Colt cams will be selling these billets with any grinds they offer for a deep discount to make up cost in an initial group buy. Deposits would need to be taken to secure your spot, and work like any other group buy after that really. After the group buy the price will go to whatever standard pricing and you miss the sweet deal train. All of this will be pivoting on whether or not its going to be worth it for him to make the initial investment. Before running an actual group buy and determining if it will DEFINITELY even happen gotta ask for a show of hands. How many people would be SERIOUSLY interested in making a deposit and actually purchasing a billet cam? not "aww gee thats a cool idea, i think i might kinda consider maybe sorta selling my g.i.joes to think about it"

If we get enough people to seem interested it would be a great oppertunity for us SOHC guys to have billets available. I know I woulda killed for this oppertunity when it was cam time for me awhile ago...

Going billet has great benefits, mainly you dont have to do any machine work to your head leaving you with downtime, permanent modifications, and being stuck with a cam you may want to swap out/around for various reasons (swapping engines, testing and comparing, inspection, whatever)

MODS: I already emailed [email protected] see if the post is acceptable before making it.

I think there might be a problem with people leaving a deposit on an Item that has no discussed price......
Besides I think hybridka already sells a regrind performance spec for dirt cheap. I think it would be pretty hard to get billet cams ground for a group0 of people unless it was something in the ballpark of the $155 that Hybrid sells there cam for......
Last I had my billet done for: $50 for billet cam, $90 for machine grind.

hybrid sells a regrind, which actually is a STOLEN NON AUTHORIZED copy of colt cams grinds yes. and you can also get legit ground regrinds from pdm as well, but this is all regrind territory from stock cams.... not billet blanks. 50$ is for the oem cam core charge. were talking cam blanks that start with nothing on them so you dont run a smaller base circle and dont have to get machine work done to your head to accomodate the larger cam....
