Just cut them until you have 2 coils.

Ok I am gonna try a pre-emptive strike here. Do not cut your coils. Buy lowered coils from a good company like Eibach, Tein, or Rsr. Spend the money now or spend it later with a broke down car.
By the way the next post may sting a bit.

heres a tip if your goign to cut ur sprigns which i dont recomend. cut a coil and heat up the coil and bend it down so it sits flat, doing this will prevent it from having extra play and travel so it wont be bouncy like u see most ppl with cut springs

cut springs= poor handling
Lowering springs are inexpensive. Buy lowering springs. End of conversation.

actually the driftking did cut his springs.... i believe he said it in one of those valvoline drift gimmick video with RJ de vera <loser. as his interviewer..... but cuttin springs is by far not a MOD... get good springs, youll thank your self when u have blown shocks later...which is probably better then what youd have to fix, if you decided to cut the stock springs otherwise...

Actually, the video where he mentioned that he used to cut the springs was in the drift bible I believe. When he was talking about suspension back in the days when he started out. Vast improvements have been made since then in technology. Buy some springs that are already lower and forget about cutting them. Your car and your back will thank you.

Just go buy Megan Racing lowering springs. They are fairly cheap, good quality/handling, and provide a nice drop. Shit if you want you can buy mine still in great condition, 90 shipped. PM me

the drift king doesn't cut springs.
As others mentioned, when he was strapped for cash, he in fact did cut his springs on his car.
If you really feel the need to cut your stock springs, I would do 1/2 coil on each end. That's a very conservative cut, still remains safe, improves handling, aerodynamics (negligible), some wheel gap, and spring rate.
cut springs= poor handling
Worse handling than stock? I'm not so sure about that, especially if you keep the cut conservative. Maybe what you mean is too much cutting will reduce the suspension travel on the strut/shock, thus leading to blown shocks and poor handling?

Dont waste you're time cutting the damn springs its just plain stupid go and buy lowering springs thats one of the most affordable suspension mod you can do that wont comprimise the handleing of the 240.

Lowering springs is like $100.
Get some used ones for like $5.
Cut them, your shocks will blow for sure, and it'll feel like shit.
Just save up and get coilovers.
KTS GB, $999

Don't listen to them, those coilovers cost hella money and don't make you faster, pl us kill your ride.
Cut your springs, lower your center of gravity and you'll drift like a pro in now time.

Seriously. Cut the springs and bumpsteer into something hard. Please.
On the otherhand if you're REALLY lucky you'll get stiffer springs from cutting.

browse the classifieds! used aftermarket springs run pretty cheap, and shipping isnt bad either.
Also, arent cut springs prone to shattering?

Cut them with a saws-all.
only leave about 4 coils. go up into the mountains far far from anyone else and take a 35mph turn in high 3rd gear. pull you e-brake as you turn into the turn. bumpsteer and die. thanks.

forget the cut spring technique from way back drift bible mofo was only like 30 then now days better off to pay for springs and save flow on shocks later

friend cut the springs on the AE86, I rode in it - felt like crap.
learn the car with stock springs/struts. once you know how the car performs, then you invest.

Cut the spring in half. Use each half for your car, then cut the other one and sell it as a set to a friend. He then cut his in half and have two sets to sell. Soon we'll all have free cut springs with dozens of leftovers in case we need them.
