I was offered a 90' Nissan 240sx fastback 5spd. For $1800 I'm going to call on it to see if its worth it. The only problem is, is that I know nothing about 240's. What do you do to beef them up? I've heard that the engine bay is way to small to put a turbo in. But what makes this car worth getting? Put on an intake, catback exhaust, but then what? Help me out here.

Whoever told you that had no idea wht their talking about. These cars come stock with turbos in JDM land. C'mon....Search button is your friend. Just type in "SR20DET" and you'll find answers tiny grasshoppa'

Sorry I am totally clueless about 240's. Thats why I came here. They come stock with a turbo? Are you sure. I didn't see any turbo. The car is completely stock 90' nissan 240sx fastback. And what is this SR20DET thing. I know that you can beef up the car by putting a new engine into it. I think a silvia engine right? Well I don't want to spend all that money on that engine. What could I do to get some nice HP, I mean you can do intake, exhaust, coil covers some other stuff but ####, is the car worth getting?

Dude... I explained this to you. They come with turbos in japan... the sr20det engine. Yours would be the ka24e I think, a single overhead cam, non turboed no anythinged engine.

So basically get a SR20DET engine then it would be good to go? How much are those again?

Don't get a 90..get a 91 or up. The 91's and up have a higher hp engine in them. 155hp/160lb torque stock. you can turbo that engine too and easily have 215+ HP.

www.unstable-hybrids.com will install one for a little over $4000. Pretty good deal for your situation if you think about it. You get a newer engine with probably 30-40K miles on it, and you get about 60 more hp than what you have now.

But you'd be extremely hard pressed to find one for $1800. And the engine would probably have so many miles on it, I'd be a little leary of turbo'ing it.
