Guys what is up once again.I have a 95 240 with about 125K on it.I can here that good old worn out timing chain sound. That u kno rattlin noise inside the valve cover type of ordeal.I had an s13 before and had the timing chains tensioners guides and water pump replaced all at once.

Well my brother did it for me.I wasnt there.I might do it outside in my yard I was wondering on the difficulty of this job im about to endure.

I also heard from a friend of mine that has a s14 to that the rattling noise inside the valve cover is the upper guid and you can remove it to rid this noise. He has had his removed for about a year and he said it doesnt harm thbe car???

please give some feed back on this timing chain job cause I want to redo the timing chains and water pump and make my Ka strong.I might be building a Na Ka since I dont have the time for Sr20det or Ka-T both expensive as hell to do..Any Advice on building Na Ka?? I was thinking the basics Intake 4-2-1 Headers high flow cat and cat back exhaust maybe sum cams clutch n fly wheel.I can also buy a ka for 850 with trans and complete motor with 55K on it froma friend of mine and I might build it up in the basment for nitrouse...

Tnnx and please write..

i took off my upper and lower guides for the timing chain, rattling noise went away, iirc this is int he faq and supposedly iirc i read on here someone saying nissan or fsm says to take off the guides when replacing the timing chain, just take em' off

oh yeah and i've had no problems, running like this for half a year.

Really Just take em off and keep them off? Ok never heard that one before But Ill keep that in mind..

Does any one have any advice on how to build a nice Na Ka motor.

Also Is it hard doing a slave cylinder on a 240...and a clutch n flywheel? much thnx...

i'ts not hard doing a slave cylinder on a 240, while you're there take out the clutch dampener/box, has a tendency to catch air bubbles, you don't need it, lots of people here take em' off, clutch/flywheel to me is hard if you can't reach the bolts you need to get to, most of the time i'd rather just pull the motor to do a tranny job

Do a search on the timing chain guide removal. I have seen some pretty good How-To articles on it.

misnomer wrote an FAQ on it years ago. its in the archive section.

nico and other forums all have pretty extensive write ups on it, including pics.

basically...

remove valve cover
remove distributor
remove front cover
remove 2 guides, check or replace the guide tensioner
put everything back, with new or refreshed gaskets and time it

I just finished a SOHC timing chain and I did a write up. There is a very good link herehttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=105618
DOHC is not much harder, maybe a little.
