Ok I had to cut the bolts in 2 places but I got the t/c rods out of the car. I then proceeded to burn out the old bushings, no problem.

Now, there are 2 rings on either side of the t/c rods that appear to be keepers but i dunno if they should come out or not. They seem pretty determined to stay in there but the bushing doesn't fit too well w/ them.

Also there are some protrusions in the bushing seat, like little bumps 1/8" high and the size of a penny w/ little nipples in the middle. Do I file these down?

I know someone knows the answers to these questions and i really need my car running ASAP so help a guy out would ya?

Thanks enormously in advance...

i don't know why it took u so much work to get the tenson rod off, mine came right off after the bolts were lose...

but, i don't recall there was any gasket in there... again, i didn't exactly look...

edit: btw, u can see my eastbear tension rods on the right side of the pic in my signature. where the red wire is, it's chromish...

they're little metal rings on the inside lip on either side of the bushing sleeve. i think they should come out but not entirely sure. As it stands now the bushinge sleeve is narrow at both ends and wide in the middle w/ these little nipples and bumps.

I hope i get an answer soon...

ok, now i'm determined; I'm going to try to remove this sleeve and see what's what.

Anyone have any insight here?

I'll post pics tonight, unfortunatelly I didnt' get any of the inner sleeve 'cause i went from pissed off to exctacy in like 10 sec there when they popped in.

This is what I did:
Removal:
1) Remove all nuts w/ wrench and cheater bar.
2) Try to remove the main bushing bolt.
3) If siezed (as mine was) get under there w/ a work light and a hack saw after jacking it up.
4) Cut the narrow part of the bolt right tight to the bracket on the inside of the nut side.
5) Cut the other side thru the crush tube as close to the bracket on the inside as possible.
6) Burn out the rubber part of the bushing w/ a torch
7) Enjoy cool lava-like effect of silicone burning.
8) Cut a seam down the 3 parts of the inner sleeve (2 retaining rings and the core) I dis-assembled and re-assembled the hack-saw w/ the blade thru the sleeve to cut.
9) Hammer or pull the parts out.
10) Clean the bushing seat all nice nice.

Installation:
1) Get a big ass vice.
2) Lube up everything (I used Astroglide, it's a sex lube but it works GREAT on auto parts, designed by NASA)
3) Find a suitable mandrel ~2" Dia. and Short enough for the vice.
4) Put the bushing against the bushing seat and the mandrel against the other side of the bush and SQUEEZE.
5) POP! they go in like butter.
6) Jam 'er back in and torque to spec w/ new bolts and nuts.

The cheapest shop wanted (in CDN$ mind u) $200 removal installation of rods, would not go near bushings removal or installation; another shop to change bushings: $100.

Hahaha! Thats great.

So the final thing is the metal rings DO come out and do NOT have to go back in?

Also, what did you put in first? The bushing into the t/c rod and then the metal center...or the metal center into the bushing and then into the t/c rod?
