I'm taking my tranny out and I can't seem to get to the top bolts, i got my whole exhaust off. My impact wrench can't really get a good angle to get enough power up there. Is there a way I can make more room or take some pressure off the bolt? (jack the tranny?) also my rear propeller shaft bolts are really tight, how can i get those off?

lower the tranny slowly, this will tilt the engine upward and get in there. as far as tight bolts go, soak the bolts in wd40 and use the impact wrench. me personally, I just used a tourqe wrench to take them off.

i got the tranny bolts, lots of twisting and bending and using various wrenches.... go it, on to the next problem

I can't get the propeller shaft bolts off, i'm suppose to take off the ones closest to the diff but i can't get them to budge, i tried some antisieze stuff and the shaft moves a bit when i try to turn the bolt. there's no room to get the impact wrench in.... anyone have any suggestions? help quickly please

you put 2 wrenchs together for more leverage, so you take a 12mm, and say a 12 or 13mm and you put the closed end of the 12mm on the nut, then you use the closed end of the other wrench and put it on the open end, i really can't explain it, but grab 2 wrenches and try to figure out what im talking about...i wish i had a picture, hope this helps

I took out the tranny in Eleanor twice. The first time I cut holes in the firewall. DON'T DO THAT!!! You will need about a 2-4 foot extension connected to a breaker bar. From about the tailshaft area of the transmission, slide the extension up to the top. With a light, you'll be able to see the two bolts. You may also need a wobble (3/8's universal). That is that way tranmission shops do it. I asked when I took the tranny in the first time.

You may have to buy 40 bucks worth of quality extensions, but it's worth it.

by propeller you mean the driveshaft? same way just link the wrenchs together, or if its something else ill tell you, i did all my tranny by hand(no impact) and i did it last week, so i remember what i did...i really dont like using impacts unless the piece that needs to be taken out of the car is already off and just needs to be taken apart...its just such a bitch to get the impact in most spots..that is my opinion atleast

yeah, that shaft, i got it, you have to take out the bolts in the middle of the shaft not the end ones, the middle is much easier, now all my bolts are almost out, gonna pull the tranny tomorrow morning, thanks for you help
