Well here is the problem, my tires were rubbing and then they cut the body harness under the wheel wells. So i soldered them together properly adn now my cluster doesn't work (tach, odometer, speedometer, gas guage) but everything else works ....then i figured i would relocate the harness in the car. i was stupid, i cut the harness and soldered what i thought were the same wires. However i got hell problems....Anyone have ideas? I figured a volt meter would be my best bet but then that means i have to have all appiliances on when i test it therefor i can short it right? can this be done without the battery and is there a wiring diagram anywhere....basically i am screwed. If anyone can help i would really appreciate it, if anyone for sure knows how to fix it, i would pay for their time. 92 S13 Convertible

I recently had a problem like yours, and relocated the harness inside the engine bay. And the only mechanical part that works on my cluster is the tach, and temp. The speedo fluctuates, and the fuel is stuck at full. But after I change my speed sensor, all should be fine. Sounds like you need one also.

Okay, you need to spend some quality time with your FSM and figure out all the wires that run through the engine harness. There are a lot of them. You just have to be patient.

Plus some of the wires are the same colours so that will make it trickier. You just have to disconnect them and then try to figure out what needs to go where.

No one can help you at this point because it's very complicated. You have maybe 30 or 40 wires going through there and you cut them. There are about 2,000 different ways they can go. You just have to patient and learn how to read a wiring diagram.

As a word of warning for you guys who are about to relocate your engine harness, do yourself a favour and drop the dash. Be patient and unplug the harness and route it through the engine bay. Don't cut it! It seems like a lot of work, but then going through what he's trying to do is much much worse.

If it helps any, there isn't one place that will list all the wires going through that harness. There are bunch of circuits that run through there. Off the top of my head, some of them are: ignition switch, combination signal switch, wiper switch, horn switch, clutch switch, brake fluid level sensor, wiper amp, and all the wires you have running through your Super Multiple Junction (SMJ).

Look through those first and see what you have left. They should be pretty easy to figure out if you take it one circuit at a time.

On this note, does anyone know of a site that sells body harnesses?

Try checking with your local Nissan dealer to see if they still have them in production. FYI, Nissan calls it the engine room harness. If you call it a body harness the parts guy may not know what you're talking about.
