I plan on doing a SR20 conversion in a few weeks maybe less, and I would like to know what the difference is between the SR20DET and the SR20DET GTiR. is the second engine more closely related to that of the Skyline or is it better just to go with the standard SR? Would the GTiR make my 180SX a GTR ( I"m very picky about my badging , don't want to lie now do we ). Is the GTiR 4WD or 4WD similar to the R34 where power is transferred during a loss of traction. Ect ,Ect. Thanks for the help in advance.

As far as I know there was never an sr engine in the Skylines.

The GTi is from the Pulsar if I remember correctly, and it's an all wheel drive chassis. I am unsure if it shares the same advanced traction control, but it's pretty much meaningless. The s-chassis is designed for rear wheel drive- you'd have one hell of a time trying to convert it to awd.

As far as badging goes, you'd only be a GTR if you were in an r-chassis car (Skyline GTR). An s13 with an rb engine isn't a GTR, it's an s13 with an rb engine. Also, unless you're in Japan, Australia, or the UK, you have a 240sx, not a 180sx.

All in all, unless you're can fabricate all sorts of stuff or are independently wealthy, your only SR series engine options are the rear wheel drive SR20DE or DET.

Grab the turbo from the GTi it's a little bigger than the S13 one and bolts on to the manifold.

You can look at that one a few different ways. Obviously, you've got a 240sx by VIN number and true designation, but if you think about it, these cars are labled by engine size, so if you threw a ca18det in there and called it a 180sx, you wouldn't be wholly inaccurate. I wouldn't go around bragging that you've actually got a 180sx, but if you wanted to change the rear light panel and the lables by the windows to say 180sx, I wouldn't consider that rice... you'd just be showing the engine size.

gtir engine will work if you have a rwd sr trannie sr20det wiring harness and lot of spare time and money just get the de or det and buy a bigger turbo. (or get s14 or s15 set ups) t-28 turbos s-13= t-25
