s14 zenki sr20det

ok i had my swap finished about a week ago. I drove it about 2 days ago, because i got a new maf installed (s14 kouki sr20det). For about 5 minutes not even getting on it hard, i think i blew the headgasket too. Did an oil change before driving it switced the 5w-30 mobil 1 synthetic. Now there is no evidence coolant under the valve cover, it looks like mud though very little brownish in color. I did a compression test on all four cylinders they are about 120 all across give or take 20psi but it seems all good. My friend suggested my turbo seals are bad. Which i really hope, anyone have any insight?

Ok now to my real problem. I had someone soldering my maf pigtail onto my harness. They soldered it with the battery in. I'm wondering if that could of fried my ecu or fry my ignitor chip. I can't even start my car anymore, after driving it for that 5 minutes. I'm getting fuel no i'm not getting any spark for some reason? I was driving the car for about week before this happen.

here is what i'm running

8psi
apexi n1
walbro 255
z32 fuel filter
greddy vspl intercooler
3" downpipe turbo elbow
ss manifold
greddy hotpipe
aluminum intake pipe w/ greddy filter

thanks for any input.

hmm.. well the "mud" color under your valve cover is what I am guessing to be oil that has caked onto the head after a long time of use... as for no spark... I would use a tester to see if you are getting current to your coil packs... if you are.. then they are the problem. If you dont get any current to the coil packs... check the ignitor chip, CAS (cam angle sensor's are pretty touchy to electrical disturbances in my experience) and ecu.

As for your head gasket being blown... there is a possibility that you did blow one... having only 120 psi all across... ideally 150-170 would be normal running conditions. Check to see if you are burning water... since the water jackets are right next to the cylinders... If you are burning oil... it is more than likely you have a bum piston or a bum valve seal.

Try tracing back your steps. I'd say someone soldered something incorrectly...

i am not burning coolant at all. I never saw any white smoke come out of my exhaust, only black smoke. I will try back tracing my steps. If your maf was wired incorrectly could that cause you not to have spark? We did try reseting the timing though.

It sucks i just got my swap running this week, and this happens =(

well the MAF should tell your computer only about the air coming in so it knows how much fuel to put in. I would look towards the CAS, ignitor chip... and ecu.

Oh.. and coil packs. xD

If I still lived in Wa state I would come over and help ya... however im down in california now... anyone else wanna lend him a hand (perhaps to interchange parts for testing)

yes if someone with a s14 sr20det can come and help that would be great.

i'm really thinking it's not a blown hg, there are no signs. There is no coolant what soever in the head. Just really muddy oil. But i guess it's a fried ecu.

did you test the coilpacks? Ignitor? and CAS yet?

ok i finally got spark. Fouled out spark plugs thank god. But now i did the timing on the sr. Lined up the pin to the second mark on the crank pulley. It starts up, i drove it around the neighborhood today. It won't really go fast when i'm driving it. When you are in neutral and the car is not moving you can rev it no problem. There is tons of black smoke coming out of my exhaust. But the car feels like it has 50hp. Also on my boost gauge my vaccum flucuates from like 0-10-20. Its really crazy it bounces up and down like no other at idle.

figure out this problem? what was the solution?
