header heat shield

so....is it all good to just remove the header heat shield on my s13? Its starting to rattle and i'm wondering if it's not really necessary...? anyone know for sure ?

Unless you actually replace the sheild with some sort of heat wrap you should just leave it in there. When the cool air comes from underneath the car it passes through the holes in the plastic sheild and blow onto the Exh Mani. and the sheild deflects it back down under the car and keep the heat in the bay to minimum. IF you take it off wrap your exhaust manifold.
