my gf and i decided to go eat in sf last night, so we went and wandered around fisherman's wharf looking for a seafood restaurant. we picked the blue mermaid.
after waiting about 3 minutes before we even got greeted, i was kinda wondering about the quality of service. then the guy came and seated us.
then we waited another 10 minutes before i suggested leaving, because the guy obviously didn't care if we were happy or not. but we were both hungry so we stayed. maybe 5 minutes later the guy came by and asked if the other guy had taken our orders yet. i told him no. then he said ok wait a minute.
so about 5 more minutes later he came back and offered some lame about this and that blah blah blah. so we ordered.
by that time i had decided definately not to leave a tip. i was even thinking about writing "shitt service" where it says to put the tip amount on the slip.
then our food came, and it almost made up for the shitty service. i had fish n chips, and the fish was crisp enough to cut and dip without it falling apart into tiny pieces. i had noticed most other seafood restaurants i had been to in the bay area and monterey had pretty weak, flaky fish.
anyway, about halfway through the meal, the guy came back and said he talked to the manager, and because we had to wait so long, he would buy us dessert. i said ok.
then the manager came by and said he was sorry we had to wait so long, cuz there was a mix up as to which waiter had which tables, so dessert was on the house. i thought, wow, that's pretty cool of them.
so we got dessert, it was pretty good too.
so yea, the blue mermaid has good customer service after all. and good food too.
the end.
