Ok i bought my s14 a while back ago and the guy we bought it from had just rebuilt the motor it only had 500 miles on it. and when you started the car it took a while for it to start but he was building the motor so he could turbo it so he had the timing advanced, well when we were driving it back from were we picked it up we noticed it was extremely slower than a ka usaully is so when we got it home we set the timing back to stock at 20 degrees, but it still took forever to start it so we set it again and double checked but still took forever and we also checked the compression it was 90-60-60-90 so we took it to the shop and they said its becasue the piston rings are not sealed yet since it only has 500 miles on it so yea it now has 1000 miles on it and the compression is 90 al across and it seems to be alot faster now like what stock should be, but it still takes forever to start without giving it gas and the compression is still 90 accros what do you guys think it is? maybe the cams arent lined up properly causing the valves to open at the wrong time which makes the compression way low? your inputs would be greatly appreciated ohh yea and when he rebuilt it he put s13 cams in it, i dont know if that has anything to do with it but i figured id tell u just incase

Yeah. The cams out of the s13, you're gonna have to adjust the timing to stock I beleive with the 240/248 duration setup & you should be alright, you'll just loose acceleration at idle to around 2800+ Rpm ranges

this link may assist you in other ways as well. .. .

Good luck, I'll let you know when I get my engine started & ran, I've recently installed the 91' cams unto my 95' KA head as well .. ..so i'll see how she flows from here on out. .. .

in order to not blow the motor. do what driftaholic did. clock one of the cams 4 teeth past normal. He was running 2 exhaust cams I believe.

THANK YOU for your guys help, yea i did set my timing at stock, umm since there are s13 cams should i set the timing to what an s13 should be at? or doesnt that matter... you guys are right becasue ive been wondering why it seems slow at low rpms and alot faster at 3500,the cams are both exhaust 248/248 i just asked. becasue normally a ka is stronger at lower revs, thank you for your replies very appreciated

Ok well i just took the compression again and it was 90-90-60-90, so if they were all 90 i would say ok there low comp pistons it must be good, but with this dip of 60????
