ive got a 91 240sx with a ka24de which has been giving me trouble starting lately. it always starts when its been sitting for at least a few hours. however, sometimes when i turn it off and try to start it a couple minutes later it wont start. it will crank over, and it sputters and everything but wont start. this isnt something that happens everytime, just on occasion. also, sometimes it starts, then dies right away. sometimes, if i keep on cranking it over even when it seems there is no hope, it magically starts and then i have to rev it for a while because the idle is so crappy. ive replaced the distributer and cap, the ignition module, plugs, wires, and fuel pump. the basic bottom line is it always starts when its cold, but only sometimes when its hot. if anyone can tell me what my problem is here. it would be greatly appreciated.

you sure you own a 240sx? maybe its a rx-7. just kidding.

maybe you got a small fuel leak and it's flooding out a bit. when you let it sit for a while the gas evaporates and voila, it starts right away.

Yeah everything you say points at the fuel system. It's flooding and doesn't start when warm because the A/F mixture is to rich, but when it is cold the engine needs the richer A/F, and if the engine is cold like said above it evaporates. Diagnose a problem don't replace every part you can think of...

i also have this problem. i did the spark plug wire yank test and found the 4th cylinder's injector to be gone. so i swapped out the injector for a operating one and no dice.

car starts "screeches for like 3 seconds" idles fine but it seems like its dying a bit, after about 5 minutes it dies and thats it. if i were to make it start again i'd have to hold my foot on the gas pedal down while cranking it for a while to start it "screeching". once i let go of the gas pedal it's done

how would i diagnose a fuel leak? any input is appreciated thanks

i have a question i just put a new starter in on my 240hatch an it was workin like a champ of a couple of months. the motor has alot of miles on it but it has been working really well an has not really givin me any problems till now. My car wont start. I'm gettin power to everything all my gauges are workin an lights but when i turn the key al i hear is this rapid "clicking" noise an nothing. The clicking noise will be fast at first but then dies down. Anyone got any ideas what the prob can be.

you say it screeches? sounds like you have a slipping belt.

as for your other stuffs... mmm need more clarification.

are you saying your car had a rough idle, and when you pulled spark plug wire #4, it didn't make a difference in the idle? i would check to make sure you are getting proper spark to #4.

there are a couple ways to diagnose a fuel problems.

one classic way is to run the car and put a stethoscope on each injector. you should hear the injector clicking. if it doesn't click, it's stuck.

another way is to leave everything on the fuel rail intact, and just unbolt it from the manifold. hold it up in the air and set the key to acc on, priming the fuel pump. check for leaks around the injector, etc. oh, and don't crank the engine.

Use an FSM as well. These q's are asked a lot on here...:mepoke:

If you are holding the accelerator pedal right down to the floor to restart it that cuts off the fuel. Sounds like its flooding. You can use an injector pulse tool and check fuel pressure, check resistance of the fuel injectors as well.
