View Full Version : 2006 NBA ALL-STAR Weekend

The All-Star weekend is upon us. All I really care about is the Slam Dunk Contest and the All-Star game itself.
I like the West's chances for the game, and Kobe for MVP. I know the fans/media will want him to score, because of his 81-point performance a month ago.
Thoughts?
Predictions?
My predictions:
Three point shoot-out: Ray Allen
Slam Dunk Contest: Nate Robinson
All-Star Game: West
MVP: Kobe Bryant
What I would really like is a posterization of Shaq, by none other than, Kobe. :naughty:

Actually, I agree with your predictions.
I do not, however, think that there will be 81 points scored in the game by any individual, seeing as how there are not enough shots or playing time in the all star game for such behavior.
Anyone under 6-feet who makes their dunks wins the contest.
Ray Allen is the best pure shooter in the league since Reggie Miller died.
West all-stars will beat the Detroit Pistons--... err, the east all stars.
Kobe, being the league leader in scoring and individual EVERYONE in the league is watching, whether they want him to succeed or fail, will take the stage for what it is and monster his way to MVP for the game.

He'll score 25+ points. I love Ray Allens release, it's so smooth and quick.

Haha. Last year's winner Nash finished last place this year. He really needs to cut his hair....
Damn. Dirk won.
I'm 0-1.

nobody saw that Dirk thing coming.
... I didn't have a white guy winning it until J.J. Redick or Gerry McMamara goes

You got Nate Robinson. He really shouldn't have won it, it should have been another tie...haha.
But I think they were forced to choose a winner. Bascially, Iguodala got robbed, even though I was rooting for Nate the whole way. Nate's 2nd dunk was spectacular....I was screaming in my seat.

That was one of the best dunk contests in quite a while... I think they should have a "best of the active champs" dunk contest, as determined by the fans, at next year's all star weekend, seeing as how there is no actual team in Vegas. Perhaps a different approach can be taken

Woot. I'm 1-2.
I agree with PHLIP. I'd also like to see that. In it, I would love to see Kobe Bryant, Tracy Mcgrady, Vince Carter, and Jason Richardson.

fuck that... kobe should have won the MVP... dirk is good, but only 2 people have more than 80 points in a game... and one of them is kobe.

I played Varsity ball from my sophomore year 'til my senior year in HS.
I was 1-3 in my predictions, lol. East had a good comeback.

The Pistons had a good comeback. LOL.
Umm, I love Nate and his perseverance. Kobe and a few others seemed like they were getting impatient and talking a lot of $hit, but Nate just stuck with it until he got what he wanted.
The only thing is, they should limit the amount of attempt, for time and the crowd's sake.
Yeah, and it would be a good idea to have a Dunking All-star matchup!

Here we go again with the "ball-hog" comments. It's funny, because most of the people who say that know nothing about basketball. :ugh:
