You mean an SR20VE? You can do the head swap onto a DE, but it takes some parts...you can find all the info at SR20forums.com...it's already been discussed a bunch of times and I'm planning on going SR20VET myself...

Ok I Got The Motor And I Put In My B14 Runs Nice
I Have Both Soleniods Coming On At 5000 Rpms
Now I Would Like To Know Which Is Which
Which Soleniod Is Exhaust And Which Is Intake
I Heard That If U Have Them Come In At Seperate Times YOU GET MORE OUT THE MOTOR
Now I Tried Asking The Guys From Sr20 Forums And There Being Dicks
I Know Some Of Them Personally I Think There Still Pissed Off Cuz I Went The Turbo Ka Route

chill with the caps.
sr20ve in a rwd car will take shitloads of fabrication. We've all dreamed of it. None have the money. turboing it would be pretty complex too.

You can't put the whole motor in, so you do a head swap. That means you'll need a RWD DE(T) longblock and tranny, and you'll have to tap the head for the oil line for the VVL, but it's definitely possible. Turboing is no different from a DE except you'll need lower compression pistons due to the higher compression of the VE head. I could probably answer any other questions you have, and I'll try to find some pics and answers about the VVL, I know some guys on SR20forums....
Here's a S14 from Japan with a VE head:

Not that big of a deal on a RWD engine. As mentioned, drilling is required, perhaps a different CAS. For guys who build up engines, its no biggie. Just takes some time. Multiple threads have been made on the SR20forum discussing fabrication needs.

OK what you need is low-compression pistons(due to smaller combustion chambers in the VE head), an SR20VE or SR16VE head with SR16VE cams, and some lines with the right fittings. Tap the head and run the lines and use a SR20VE or SR16VE head gasket and you should be good. Thanks NissanTuner for the help. Oh, and timeless24, most of the guys say that activating both cams at the same time works the best. I'll try to get more specifics on the lines/fittings/where to tap pics, etc, I should have them at home.

Cam activation is a touchy subject. It really depends on your particular set up. Dyno testing is really the only way to determine what points are the best for your application.
If memory serves me right, and it usually doesn't, the headgasket may need a hole put in it.

OK...here's the shopping list-
- 2 - 1/8 npt to -6 AN straight adapter
- 1 - 1/8 NPT male plug (optional if you're using DE head gasket)
- 1 - Nissport Oil Sending Unit Adapter (from Nissport.com)
- 1 - 2ft (or some length similar) female/female -6AN oil line
and the 1/8 in tap to go with...
I'll have to check again where to tap in the head and block...

Here is a picture of a ported DE head, which is the same as DET versus a VE head. Big difference

Not to mention VE has better oil pump, water pump, combustion chamber, intake manifold, lighter pulleys, and rocker arms that wont fly off

every thing mentioned so for seems true. I also am looking for the glorious sr20ve head swap, but I have a sr20det red top in my 240. A couple of guys on sr20forum, thi info is there but not complete and by one guy. I here you can put the ve heads no the det block but the cas might be in the way(not enough room next to the firewall, need a smaller cas) and a tranny adapter plate fror the rwd tranny. still have to put a oil line on the head like the ka24de, or so I hear. If any one has some more info on how to do this swap with a sr20det block pleasssssssseeeeeeee tell how, and where the Hell can I get just the heads from the sr20ve?
