im having trouble choosing the correct tire size for my application. I recently got a 89 with an SR, its got steelies with 225 rear and 205 fronts, however it spins them with no problem and in rainy weather it scary. i dont want to loose control. i think is also due to the tire but i swapped them with my previous set up on my other car 15x6 with 195/60 falken Ziex which i thought would grip better but still spun them with ease.

Eventhough i love to get sideways, im looking for better traction, grip, and comfort. So i got some Volk 16x7 front and 16x8 rear ( typical size for 240 in this size)

i want to go 225/45 front and 245/45 rear with some Falken-FK (Softer rubber).
But some freinds suggested 205/50 fronts and 225/50 rears.

Heres my question, LOL.
Would this give me enough road contact and grip? Wouldnt this be stretching the tires a bit reducing sidewal, and also reducing comfort.

I would appreciate any info. oh, and the Car is pushing @250 to the wheels

If you have wheelspin problems in the wet, the root cause is usually your right foot.

Go with the sizes you want. If you want comfort, you should have bought a SC300.

240's never have traction in the wet if your foot is heavy

wider tires in the rain or snow are not beneficial. tires w/ the proper tread pattern and compound are more effective. my winter tires are 205 all around on stock rims. for the summer i have 235 up front and 255 out back.

since you're in ny, i suggest a similiar set up for u. mount some winter tires (your preference) on those steelies that your car came with go w/ 205. for your volks i would go w/ 235 in front and 245 in back for the summer. go w/ ur preference of tire, but do not compromise dry pavement traction for the illusion of getting traction on wet pavement. you are going to break traction in the rain regardless of the tire, so try and get a tire that will stick to dry pavement.
