does anyone know what type of sealant/silicone to use on a cometic hg? Just got my hg replaced on my sr and the oil and water mixed so the hg must not be sealing correctly....on the directions for the hg it only says that you need a clean/level surface but nothing about any kind of sealer....does anyone know the best one to use

you dont put sealer on a headgasket, the gasket is the sealer! Is your head level? Did you have it decked or checked? Did you torgue it properly and in the proper sequence?

^What he said.
A properly decked head(not done with a belt sander) and a good gasket is all you need.

^ What they said.
Truly you may have more problems than HG. You may have a cracked block, or head. Did You check your block deck? SR's are aluminum and if they have been superheated you can warp the block. Hope it is simple though, not the block.

You need a surfacer that puts a micro polish on the deck and the head.
Prolly didn't deck the head or both and the gasket didn't seal.

the head was taken to a machine shop and "leveled" but a guy who works w/nissans often said that w/cometic you need something to seal...btw I'm not doing the work

With comectic you need a smooth perfectly flat surface. Almost a mirror for them to seal.
You can see the difference between a belt sander and a surfacer. Also note that the deck is not level from the belt sander.

Sounds like your head was still a little rough and didn't seal.
