I bought a '89 240 last year, and when I bought it they seller said it had a new engine (still ka24e) and said the only problem was it didn't smog... well basically long story short i have had nothing but problems, and I'm now almost positive it's still the original engine. After getting it out of the shop today, i decided it would be better just swapping the engine.
Which brings me to the point of this post, I would like to know of good shops around 707 that do a good job with sr20 swaps, because I don't know enough about swapping engines or have the equipment to do it. I would like to keep it close, farthest being san francisco to sacramento. Also prices would be great help as well.
Please no flaming, I tried searching (although admittedly not throughly) both zilvia and google. Any information is appreciated. Thank you.

Hello? Anyone?
So far all I know of is AZN Motorsports in Vallejo, I know they are good with AE86 from what I hear, but I don't know about 240's.

well if u still had to smogg it to be registered ur still stuck if u get a sr20.... my best guess is find a good 12valve motor and replace it, if the orignal is on its way out..... but as for shops... around my neck of the woods... i dont think they could do a better job then me... atleast i can blame myself if i screw up...instead of bickering about local shops... try the ones in sac..

Well the car already didn't pass smog, so it was done under the table, so I'm not worried about smog. I heard something about evolution motorsports in sac being good, but I've never seen the place or heard of it until recently. Do you know any shops up there?

Ahem...ahem...SR20DET swaps here...ahem Fairfield...not a shop tho...ahem...only downside with a sohc is, no power steering if you dont have the DOHC lines. Hit me up if your interested. Evolution is koo, they did my boys SR20 miata, just costed him an arm and a leg.

I would like to get it done at a shop, just for the peace of mind, although it is a generous offer, that I might take if I can't find a good shop, or something. I actually don't know what all I need for the power steering, so if you could tell me that would help out alot, or if you knew where I could get a DOHC gauge cluster. Well without an arm or a leg I wouldn't be able to drive, so looks like I should shop else where.
Do you know the name of Jeff Andrade's shop? I searched his name, but only a few old post's showed up and they didn't look like they had any info, but I can check to see.

Black sheep performance in Santa Rosa is a good place to go to also. They know what they are doing and they treat cutomers cars like their own.
