I went to dyno my car and the dipstick popped out under full throttle. Is that normal or what? Thanx

too much oil.

Is that the only thing that would cause it? I actually checked before i dynoed it and it was perfectly at the high mark.

high crank case pressures. Time to check the health of your PCV system and piston rings.

^^ is right, its not too much oil.
Do you have a breather on your valve cover or catch can?

You can make something fun.

get a spring.
attach one end to the dipstick "ring" and the other end to something else. this will hold the stick in even if something tries to push it out.

Is your car boosted? Are you running the stock pcv system or a catch can? If you have a catch can hooked up improperly youll pressurize the crankcase. Do a compression test to see how your rings are.

actually im using a stock pcv and i have a stock sr20det. Ill get a compression test asap. But i only made 233hp and 266tq. Wouldnt hold boost past 12psi

of course I am ;) it's my job to be right (Nissan Technician).

Run compression and leakdown tests, make sure they are on the high end of acceptable per the FSM. If they are, I have a quick test for you.

With the engine idleing remove the oil cap and lay on a sheet of paper, about 3" square should work. It should be sucked to the hole, and vibrate a bit. If it is blown off you have a plug in your PCV system or a bad valve (stuck closed, so basically plugged).

same thing happened to me on my first pull. changed pcv valve and everything works fine now. i think its a 19 mm or something like that you can get from autozone and takes a second to change.
