i need a new fuel pump.
my car is stock ka, with the exception of a full exhaust that wil be installed next weekend.
i wont be looking at swapping this car for proably another 6-8 months, is it ok to get the 255 now, or should i just get another oem pump and then get 255 when it is swapped. i would like to "kill two birds with one stone" now, but if i cant, i wont.
thanks in advance guys

I'm pretty sure it should be ok with the 255.

walbro will be fine. I had it on my car for about 3 months before my sr20det swap. No problems whatsoever felt alot smoother in higher rpms i think the stock pump was holding back some power.

wouldnt it cause worse gas mileage by putting it on?

Its fine on a stock KA. Particularly on older SOHCs I've heard people say that it helps with some hesitation problems and better response all around. Get it, by all indications they are a good investment whether you'll be turbocharging in the future or not.

It'll be fine. I've been running one for about 6 months now with no ill-effects.

1via, your car is HAWT.

Any pros that you've noticed?

The walbro shouldn't decrease MPG at all, as long as fuel pressure remains the same.

A walbro will work fine on a ka. It's not going to send any more fuel than your ecu tells it to.

are you guys runing adjustable fuel pressure regulators to keep the idle pressure around 43psi... Or are you just using the stock FPR? I am pretty sure I've read of many people running too rich and having other related problems when using the 255 with the stock fpr. Something about the the pump overpowering the little fpr. I've been waiting to install my Walbro because of this, but if you guys aren't having problems then this might be project for next weekend...

ive been running the 255 on the stock fpr for about a year now. still idles and cruises ~14.7. only thing ive noticed is a bit more noise out of it.

ive had mine in for a year on a stock ka and it works fine. It does in fact make a whiny noise at start up =)

Installed mine AFTER i put a fuel pressure gauge under the hood...before and after, it idled at ~43psi with the vac hose disconnected.

34psi with the vac connected, idling at 20inches of vacuum.

Even though a Walbro has the capacity to flow a ton more fuel...as long as the stock FPR is in good working condition, you'll notice NO change. Any extra fuel it pumps will be sent back to the tank.
