whining noise.. coming from where?

i rev the engine to 4k rpm in neutral, without the clutch in. no noise

i rev the engine to 4k again in neutral, this time with the clutch in. it makes a whining/scraping noise. i let go of the gas to about 2k rpm, and i hear a little whining noise still.

is this a clutch problem?

its the throw-out bearing neme... ;)

its not a clutch problem per se... but you have to pull the tranny to fix it, so you might as well do a clutch job if your clutch is old.
