I was driving to UNO with Mitzi and descided to take some pics.

Little constrution work is being done in the hardest hit areas... its mainly petty stuff the city is working on. However the Roads are worst than ever now in those areas.

I know you guys may be tired of hearing about it, but here its everyday, everywhere you go, and the main focus on the news.

This is drirectly across the street from UNO... notice the campers... UNO has a Field with about 1000 campers on it for student housing.

What does it smell like?

You dont walk around at night... looting is still going on, but its more random now so cops are always on patrol.

Smell.... I havn't been south on NOLA yet (9th Ward/ Chalmette)... I have been through LakeView... it dosent smell at all, but i'm sure it does inside the houses. Downtown French Quarter (Canal/ Bourbon) doesn't smell eather its odd because the French Quarter always reaked of foul Human Excretions.

You know your in New Orleans when you Smell it... not true now... after Mardi Gras, maybe!

Peace

sucks that people are still looting.

so you think they are going to rebuild the city back to wat it was?

Same thing happened in South Florida after Andrew....everybody was really into the relief effort at first and them we seemed to fall off the face of the earth(at least w/the media attention)...Just be ready for a solid 5 yrs of rebuilding before things go back to "normal". Of course years from now you'll always remember how things were before, like the places that never reopened, but in the end at least your city will probably look better....man that sucks I remember what that was like...Good Luck
