Last night I took out the box (resonator) on the stock intake and sealed the hole so that there's no leak, and went to sleep without test driving.
This morning when I was driving to work, it felt like the gas pedal was more lighter and was accelerating much faster.
Is this something that's supose to happen? Is there anything bad for the car?
This was on a 91' 240SX

why would u seal the hole? Some cooler-than-engine-bay air's gotta come thru there...
I felt a bit of a difference but think it's mostly psychological like: it took me 30min so it MUST have done something...
I dunno, maybe..

throttle response should be better, hence why it feels faster. but the increase in hp should be negligable

i think it's mostly in the head, 'cause it sounds louder, and it does give you HP increase, but i don't think it's enough to say, wow, i gained 15hp!
but it does give you like 5hpish

WITH?!? all he did was seal a leaking resatator leak.....not the header <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

I've seen people gain ~6hp from a full intake...1ish would be closer to the gains he MAY have.

6 hp just from intake <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/whatsthat.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':whatthe:'> ...i think more like 4 max!

I saw the dyno. Also people have gained much higher, low to mid double digit HP gains even...(FA members, MAV and one other)...just from intake.
I believe ~6hp is the more common number.

What are you guy's talking about? Is'nt the resonator something like a noise filter? It's between the o2 sensor and the throttole body. I covered the hole because I didn't have the right size filtter and I didn't want the engine(?) to suck dusts and stuffs.
This has nothing to do with this but a friend of mine that drives an Integra took his filter box and everything that comes after that and put a "stocking" where the filtter box used to be conected. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> I was cracking up <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

Its a noise filter (or resonating chamber rather) under your stock air box containing the pos square air filter.
You don't have to seal the hole because it's before your filter so any air coming in through the hole would still have to pass through the filter.
Any more details on the box you removed? I've heard that there is another one you can remove but I've heard of people having problems after removing it...

first of all, i highly doubt there's any other "box" after the filter.
dave- i removed my resonator box, no problems. better throttle response, sounds good, and maybe a couple hp with the K&N plate installed.

There is SOMETHING else you can remove. near the battery side of the radiator IIRC.
And travis, I know there's nothing wrong with takeing your resinator box off, i did it ~5 months ago. I heard there was problems with takeing off the thing he was talking about.

Thats the one I'm talking about, the one close to the battery. I haven't had any problems driving without it, for now? Anyone else taken this off before? If you haven't try it and see how it is.
