on a 92 coupe! would it be worth it to swap my ka24 auto with another ka24 but, manual? suppose they both have the same ammount of miles.. around 120k? im wondering this because i read that ka24s sell pretty cheap, and the auto is doing a good enough job for me, wouldnt mind having a manual tranny tough! would it be more worth it to just swap the tranny? or are both ideas stupid and its just better to swap into a sr20? i would really like to know price ranges for all of those 3 procedures! i dont worry about labor charges, there are none for me! because me and step dad do it! thank you!

Ok, I really dont want to start a flame war, but if anyone else reads this it will become one.
Heres the deal. If you were planning on turboing the KA, I would go with the SR20DET swap. This will probably save you a few hundred bucks depending on what you were looking at on the KA.
If you dont want to turbo the KA, then I would just buy a new one with Manual Tranny.
Need any more info on this just email or reply!

You can swap a KA tranny for about 600-1000 depending on labor. The KA tranny should be able to handle the SR motor for the time being.

He said that labor costs wouldn't apply to him since he's doing it himself. And the KA bellhousing doesn't fit the SR.
You can get a 5spd ka tranny for $200 or less.
If you plan to turbo the KA then I'd just wait and swap the SR. Only because of the ka's mileage. I just think you'd be risking a lot unless you did a full rebuild.
