I got OWN3D today

So.. it was 15minutes to closing.. Just got done talking to a "customer". I sit down, started working on some vinyl graphics.. I hear a CRUNCH. Look up from my desk..and low and behold.. my rear QP is smashed.

The guy had no drivers licenses, but he did have CA ID. He also was uninsured. The van he brought it was bought from a lien sale, which had not fully processed yet. Because he needed a smog done..which was why he came to me. The van had long tube headers, which I told him wasn't CARB approved..then he was upset saying how CA is fucked up and blah blah blah.. So he thanks me for notifying him about it. So he backs up wayy to short, and hits my car. Pulls over right away..and exchanged info. I called the insurance, and the police. Police took 2 hours to arrive(WTG), so the guy had already left. I don't expect anyone to wait 2 hours for a cop to show up. That's just total BS.

My insurace:

Drive Progressive auto ins. Liability only covered with uninsured motorist up to $3,500. Two weeks prior, I only had liability with no uninsured motorist. UM, is basically if someone w/o insurance hits you. You're screwed, and don't get chit.

Cops excuse was.. "I was ugh... all the way on the other side". Whatever.. what a crock of shit. Pretty useless.

My thoughts.. over fender and wider wheels in the rear, and lower offset :mephfawk:

Jalal- lol you should take a second look at my car :) I have all the above minus rear over fenders. I'm not a big fan of em, cause they just don't carry the strenght as metal(obviously). If I were to get rear OFs, they'll be rivited on and not molded.

It was not a hit and run. The guy hung around for an hour or so after the incident. My insurace company said it was okay for him to leave, since all his info was taken and and reported. If it were a hit and run, I wouldn't have his ID in my possession with his info on it.

As for suing, I really don't think that's necessary. Yeah my car is banged up, but in the end it's only a car. If he is forced to live on the streets because of it, I figure I'll be the bad guy. It wasn't done intentionally, and he didn't fled the scene. If my insurance DOESN'T cover the damage, then yeah I'll get some money out of him one way or another. But I'll let the legal system take care of this in the meanwhile.

I'm confident it can be brought back with a torch and some dollies. Nothing was really crumpled, just pushed in. If I were to estimate the damage, I'd have to say about $1800 or so. I can do a little bit of body work if Bory decides to come down and help me again..haha He pretty much helped me preped out the car for paint. Only thing the car needed, was to be color sanded and buffed out.

Since the paint is only about 4 months old. I just hope that panel can be brought back and blended in, with out being fully repainted.

I'll let you guys know what happens when the insurance guy calls me again.

in the original pics, you can see that big patch of missing paint was already flaked when he got hit. well, not really flaked. just a big ass piece of it came off and was dangling.

Yup. Pushed the dent from the inside with a rubber mallet.

The paint flaked off cause I was banging on it from the inside causing it to crack. It's getting repainted anyways, so it's not that big of a deal. I didn't scrape any paint off.
