i have a aiwa (45x4) receiver and a little jensen (1/2/3 channel, crappy) amp of 220 watts hooked up to my two xplod speakers, (6x9, 180 watts max, 40 rated), i had to buy a box for the speakers and i just lower my back seat when i wanna hear it better, my back seat is gonna go soon anyways... so... thats what happens... it plays for a little while, and it stops, it is not because the amp gets hot, because i have checked that.. i strongly think it could be a problem with the remote cable, so you think that's possible, or could the problem be somewhere esle? i have a 30 amps fuse on my 12+ cable, and the amp has 15 amps fuse built.. i strongly believe thats enough amperage, am i wrong? thank you for your help!

is the amp bridged? If your exceeding the ohm load on the amp it could cause it to kick off a breaker in the amp? It is possible the remote wire is loose, but unlikely. What ohm are your speakers? what ohm is the amp?

I guess you could check the entire length of the remote turn on lead. Perhaps just re-run a new wire for that. But that's only after I read that you're convinced it isn't an overheating problem. Personally, I still suspect it might be. Make really sure that thing is getting adequate ventilation. And amp that turns on and off sporatically is almost always an amp that's over-heating.

It sounds like a "clipping" problem. Park your car and try bump'n the speakers loud. Feel the amp with your hands. Be careful, it might be real HOT. If it seems unusually hotter than it should be, the amp might be overworking. I had a similar problem before.
As mentioned above, it would be helpful if we knew what ohms the speakers are running at, and the ohms the amp is capable of.

Mine was doing that for a while about a year ago.
It was happening because the amp was not getting enough power. I charged the battery for half a day and viola no more amp cutting out!
