Hi, i'm debating on wich to get, a S13(180) or a S14 95-96. I have a budget so thats the problem. So either spending around $3500-up to get a S13 se or $5000-6000 for a base model S14. I really want all options like pw,ac,sunroof.... what would you guys do? please give me your opinions..... this car is going to be a daily driver not really for autox or racetracks, just a lil fun here n there

IMHO, I would go for the S-14. I love their style. And the front end conversion is just so god damn gorgeous

From what you have explained, you want an s14, there is a lot more refinement in the car, it is more comfertable, and more of a street car. IF you wanted to make a straight racer the s13 is more of an option cause it weighs less... either one is great, but for the sunroof and everything, you won't get that on an s14 base model, so you might be stuck getting an s13 if you want all the options. But for daily driver the s14 is much more comfertable.

With that kind of budget, it's all about the S13. Plus, there's the fact that I prefer the S13 - particularly the coupe. The S14 is beautiful, but I feel (oh god, I'm gonna get hammered) it lacks the character and style of an S13.

It's all about personal taste, of course, so it's up to you ultimately. However, since I know that doesn't help you any, I, for one, would like to strongly push the S13 coupe. If you want something fully loaded, it'll be a lot easier to afford one of those.

Plus, of course (ducking again), they're cooler. =)

Then again, there's the fact that he's absolutely right. The S15 is sooo gorgeous. But, since an S15 look-alike wasn't one of the choices, it's still all about the S13. =)

I had to make this tuff decision as well. I wanted a lot of the options and stuff, but I opted for a S14. I got a S14 base. The SE options don't make a big difference. My friend has a S13 and it is more race-car like, as mentioned above. You should test drive each one before making your final decision. See which you like better.

Reminder:
Since i got a base, i got 4 lug. Hoping to do a 5-lug convert later on

depends on your budget and what you want your car to look/drive like in the end..

if you just want to buy a car and drive it and thats it..

i would go for a S14.. they are more rare and they have special look to them that no other car mimics..

they have just as many aftermarket if not more ( in the US ) than the S13. but if you get the 95-96 model you might end up wanting the 97-98 front like many other S14 owners do.

the S13 model however is less rare and you won't have any problem finding one that suits you perfectly.

if you want the sunroof and leather then the S13 coupe is for you.. 180s didnt come with sunroofs only pop up glass roofs.

i personally like the S13 better i like the pop up headlights and i like the body lines of the hatchback .. but i also like the coupe very much .. for the money i woud get a S13.. if i were rich i would get a S13 and mod it.. =)

if i were very rich , i'd get a S13 and S14..

Well good choice on you car.I love the s14 i have a base model as well and dont matter much to me cus all the options do is add weight.I have one of the rareset car around i belive a 97-98 model only like 5600 were brought to the states if i remember right. But you will have alot of fun with your car but be careful the s14 can get away from you without you knowing it.

s13 coupe of course! s14s are too heavy and i would say lack a real car approach they tried to make it more appealing to families and soccer moms

I have never driven a s14 so I will give you a biased opinion.... I love my s13 fastback and she is like a race car. Down and dirty no frills excitement. Even w/ the KA she had some serious kick. I love the look, the feel, and the performance of my baby

If you like uncomfortable seats, tacky dash layouts, and dated looks - the s13 is the car for YOU!

IF, however, you like refinement, the look of a very limited number of cars, sporty interior styling, most s13 options standard (except mnrf, spoilers, and a few other goodies), and solid construction - you may prefer the s14.

To dispell some rumours here: The s14 only weighs about 80 lbs. more than an s13. The s14 has a more solid chasis (although softer suspension) and virtually the same drive gear as the s13. s14's don't rust around the spoiler... like SOME cars. s14's are NOT predominately owned by those whose life ambition is to work their way up to waiter.

In short, s14's offer more basic features out of the box, respond better to performance modifications, resemble more expensive cars (Lexus SC) and are driven by the "cool kids." s13's on the other hand, are rusting, tacky, outdated flea traps, that suffer from a flexy chassis that resemble Ford Probe's and are owned by busboys.

...but I mean, it's your decision and all...

*edit* oh yeah - and chicks dig s14's. My gf scoffed at me even LOOKing at an s13. Note that s13grl HAPPENS to be dating s14guy. Coincidence? I think not.

Good Response Hippo. Well, like the majority of peeps are replying, " It's all a matter of preference. "

I'll let you know I have a s13/hatch and a s14 95.

The s13, feels more attached to you and control-able. Somewhat like a go-cart. It's a fare car, very good as a starter car or project.

The s14, can get away from you at times. Much bigger feel. To me much funner, yes funner; to drive.

So, if youre on a budget, get a s13. It's a cheap little car.

But, if you really wanna do something special. Purchase a 92 and up Lexus sc300 or sc400, w/ standard trans. which are very rare and put a 2jzgte in that sucker. And yes, you would be the man.......If I ever get enough monies that's the car I'd make...Since, i wouldnt want to get a TT Supra (overpriced) or ship in a Soarer. I know theres one in Arizona (right hand drive single turboed Soarer) and in Austin, TX. an sc300 twin-turbo 600 plus hp'd beast, he keeps fudging something up though.

Just my little waste of space.

Spank the monkie. Don't choke it or you'll never be able to play w/ it again.
