Changing the alternator belt has never been an issue but now I find that I have to put that shit on with a crowbar. I loosened the alternator as much as possible but it doesn't travel far enough to make the belt loose enough to take off with the hand alone. Anyone ever hear of anything like this?
I unbolted the bracket that helps put tension on the belt but it didn't help.

Nope it's the right belt. It seems like the alternator gets stuck at one point but i can't see whats stopping its movement. I guess this is not common so I'll have to tough it out and wait to see if i figure it out someday.
