Over heating problem! From head swap??

I did a search and couldn't find anything about this, so here goes....

Did a head swap on my '95 240sx. I replaced it with a freshly rebuilt one. However, when I was bolting it back on the valve cover didn't fit. Therefore I got a head with a different casting number! So, I went and found a '91-'93 valve/timing chain cover and it seems to have bolted up fine! Now, my car overheats! I have a new t-stat, waterpump, timing chain. I am thinking that it could be the head gasket (although the fitment seemed good). What do you all think or is there something else I need to do.

BTW, the casting number on my stock head 70f and the new head is 53f.

You warp the head because you torque it down wrong. have fun.

What exactly does that mean? A warped head is causing the overheating? Trust me, I am having fun!

yeah if the head is warped then it won't seal properly w/the hg...take the head to a machine shop and get it resurfaced if thats the prob

meesing around with different heads will get you in trouble. Think about all the engines nissan has made. you can botch the head by improper torquing so lay a rule atop the head on the mating surface and check with a feeler gauge to see if it's straight. otherwise...

''bb4 96'' is right. Different heads have different cooling ports that may not line up with your block, restricting coolent flow. If you have the head off, check the cooling ''holes'' to the head gasket, and match them to the block. You probably are missed matched. BUT, Easy first!!!!! Rebleed the cooling system!!!!! We've all been through that hoop!
