Here's the dilema - I have two 18x9's +12 and two 18x10's +30 I just bought two Falken Azenis st15's 235/40/18 for the front and was thinking of getting two 255/35/18 for the rear or 265/35/18 clearance is not really an issue I'm on AGX and Tanabe DF210's so I don't need to stretch too much to fit in the fender just a roll but I like the look of a little stretched tire and the 225 and 245 combo is just too much for me.

Now I've noticed most staggerd tire setups usually go up 30mm like in every magazine I look in example 235 - 265 except for the people who run that 225 245 combo which is only 20mm. I would like it to look even as far as front and back and when I went to 1010tires.com it gave me all the tire specs for example:

235/40/18 - sidewall = 3.70 circumference = 79.79
265/35/18 - sidewall = 3.65 circumference = 79.48
Notice how close those are! Seems like a good match? But maybe not the stretch part?
255/35/18 - sidewall = 3.51 circumference = 78.60 not as close as the 235's, the sidewall might not be to bad but the circumference is little more than an inch less in difference! But does the weight of the engine squash the front tires down some and kinda even it out any ways? Because the 225 245 combo is really close to the 235 255 combo in size differences...see below

225/40/18 - sidewall = 3.54 circumference = 78.79
245/35/18 - sidewall = 3.37 circumference = 77.75

235/40/18 - sidewall = 3.70 circumference = 79.79
255/35/18 - sidewall = 3.51 circumference = 78.60
Each combo seems like it almost gives you the same results unless you guys no something I don't from experience. Any one have a difference in opinion as to what I should get? And I've seen lot's of pictures with specs but that doesn't mean that after they put them on they were like... Oh man that looks like CRAP!! And I didn't want to make the same mistake that nobody mentions.
Oh and Formula D's Chris Forsbergs S15 runs Falken Azenis st115 in a 265/35/18 in the rear. I have one of his rear tires from the Formula D finals in Irwindale that he won so I guess that size can't be too bad no major stretching for him.

Thanks all,

Not one reply...but that's ok I understand!

I just figured it all out, and why some people don't like the stretched look...because it really doesn't serve much purpose. But this is what a lot of people do and it's more of a fashion statement then functional, people get obsessed with a LOW offset which causes them to have to pull their fenders and then stretch the shit out of the tire just so it doesn't rub. 40 and 35 series are not going to flex that much anyways if you think about it!

Most amature drifters like the ones on most forums and locally around town will tend to have the stretched tires going on for example 9 inch rim 225 tire 10 inch rim 245 hella stretched, but when I check out the setups on professional drift cars like the D1 drivers the all mostly use 9 inch in front with a 235 and a 10 inch in back with a 255-275 tire minimum only a couple use a 225 in front on a 9 inch rim but not the case for the rear so obviously not much stretching going on!! I'm no professional drifter by far or really even an amature one but why would I set up my car with the wrong setup just for looks? Yea I may be just a hard parker for now but I'll be parked with the right wheel and tire setup for drifting!!

Here is a link to the D1 drivers specs see for yourself!

I think its all preferance. Im running 17x10 +12 FN01s all around on my S14. For clearance up front, im stretching 235/40s while im running 245/40s rear. When you stretch tires, those calculations (specially the circumference) goes out the window. Your stretching the sidewall to compensate so the circumference lessens. As it stands right now...im prolly gonna bump the rears to 255/40s cuz my speedos still off by a couple of miles after 80mph.

Here use this prog to calculate your tires/rim setup...
