Well the inevitable finally happened last night... after 4 years some jackass finally decided to break into my car and steal my Pioneer P7300. They hit my car and 2 cars parked right next to me by popping off the door locks. For me they punched the handle out by not one try, but TWICE. but they were "nice" enough to put the door handle back when they were done so its fully functional and i can't even pop it out again unless i get a screwdriver. for the interior they popped off the center console, took the time to unscrew the mounting brackets (even left the screws in a neat pile on the passenger seat) and even unplugged the wiring harness (instead of ripping it out like usual). They went through my center console and glove compartment to get my faceplate, popped my trunk, but just left my Bazooka (obviously knew it wasn't worth anything). So basically all i need is a new head unit, mounting brackets, wiring harness, and the door/door handle repaired. I had nothing else of value in the car worth stealing, at least i was smart about that. What kills me is my dumbass FORGOT to turn my alarm on for once, i could've prevented this whole thing since its parked right behind a house where 6 decent sized college guys live. 2 of which's cars got broken into just like mine, i had the worst damage on my door however. i know this is dumb but people need to learn to buy their own shit, thats all i gotta say. Honestly all i really care about is the damage on the door, but driving without music is gonna kill me, guess i'm gonna be cruisin in the explorer for a while... I go tommorow at 4 to get an estimate for my insurance claim. how are aftermarket head units covered under say... Nationwide? i have full coverage with a low deductible. also to anyone whos had a similar experience, how much was the door to get fixed? i need a new handle cover and right below it there are 2 good sized dents with the paint chipped off to bare metal (i'm goin through insurance anyway but i just wanna know what to expect). Just be careful people, i blame this incident on my own stupidness but i'm gonna be a lot more careful from now on, this could've been a LOT worse. Thanks

Best thing to do is sell your 240 then buy a focus. Now there is no need for an alarm because it fits in your pocket*how convieeeeeniet*
Thought maybe you could use a laugh? Sorry for your luck and hopefully everything will go well w/ the insurance

Sorry to hear that man. My girlfriend's car got broken into the same way. For the new door lock, it was about $80. This is not, however, going to match your other door lock or the engine. For matching locks, it's about $200. If the lock's not messed up, it'll be a lot cheaper. Hope this helps.

sorry to hear that man, if someone ever done that to my car and damaged her, i would kill them. ...oh well, not that serious...i would just call up all my gangs about 20~30 ppl searching for them and beat the hell & crap out of them...
Anyway, i don't have a gang..so never mind, hahaha

Sorry to hear this. At least you recognize it COULD have been a lot worse. When thieves struck my car for the stereo (not all that, trust me) they broke a window, tore the hole dash apart, and took a 2-3 year old CD player worth about $40 on ebay. With the exception of the climate control unit, everything had to be replaced from the vents to the radio plastic, the switches, ash tray, shiftboot and surround, and center armrest/cubby hole.
So I guess the *bright* side is that they could have been rank amateurs

one time somebody broke into my s13 while i went into my friends house, i was there for 20 mins. came outside, and my amp and the face off my sony where gone. now y he took the face, i dont know. days later, i found out who it was, since i too have a few cons, and got my face back. the guy went to jail for sexual harassment/abuse, so i didnt have a chance to get even.

I hate to say this but I think that most insurance companies don't cover anything aftermarket in the car unless you declare it and add it the policy. I know that when my RX-7 (sniff I still miss her) cd player got stolen, it wasn't covered.

I recommend getting a lower profile Head unit. I think the Pioneers are THE most stolen head units around. I had a 7200 premiere that got stolen, and my GF had two 4200's stolen in the last year.
I have a Nakamichi mb-75 now, and that thing is WAY low profile. it looks just like a factory CD-player.

Sorry to hear that. Someone broke into my car the other day, but didn't steal anything. Weird because i have a new stereo (faceplate left on) and a subwoofer that would be easy to grab. All they did was move the car, (it was on an incline). I guess they just wanted to fuck arround with me.

well heres my update if anyone cares. i got an estimate for my door 2 days after it happened and its gonna be $478 . thats gettin fixed this tuesday, i was happy bout how fast they got my estimate and scheduled me.
about my cd player, she (nationwide representative) said to send her the receipts for it. i went out today and bought all the brackets and harnesses and such so i'm going to send her the receipts for all that too. over all for the stereo its $240(cd player)+$70(brackets and pocket from dealer)+$30(wiring harness and antenna adapter).
total for this whole incident was about $820, a lot more than i expected but all i have to pay is my $100 deductible so i'm really not complaining too much. i just hope my premium doesn't go through the roof.
