hey everyone,

i searched a bit, but no luck. i'm in the midst of turboing my ka, planning on installing the oil lines next. i ordered the jgs tools oil lines, and saw what appears to be an oil restrictor for the turbo. i got a t3/t04e. here's the part:

http://www.jgstools.com/turbo/restric1.jpg
"0.063" Oil Pressure Orifice
303 SS, 1/8" male to 1/8" female NPT, use thread sealant on all NPT connections.
$15
ONLY USE IF OIL PRESSURE GOES HIGHER THAN 50psi AT THE TURBO UNDER LOAD! IF THIS DOESN'T FIX OVER OILING, HAVE TURBO INSPECTED BY A TURBO REBUILDER."

i realize i dont have the ability or any-way to measure the oil pressure at the moment. but in general, those of you who do have ka-t's, do you guys use this part? is it necessary for a t3/t04e or how do i figure out whether i need it or not? i dont wanna ruin my turbo by not using a $15 part...

thanks in advance.

Depends on who you ask. I was told by the guys at Phoenix Turbo when I bought my T3/T4 that so long as you have a -3an line you don't need a restrictor, but you might if you go up to a -4an line.
I am running a -3an and no restrictor and everything seems fine.

...and to make this more confusing for you:

The JGS oil line kit used to be a -3 line with -4 ends...so the line diameter was small enough to keep the flow regulated, although you're using -4 fittings. FYI...

But I've been using a 1/16" restrictor on my Garrett T3/T4 for the last few years with my JGS oil line kit...it's been fine.

yah the lines i got from taka already had the correct 1/16 restriction in the line itself, so I didnt need it but some lines are bigger
