i have searched and am now confused for my 89, an auto ecu will not work for rev cutoff or speed limiter bypass, so i either cut the green/yellow wire and the wire from the tranny, or get the greddy or hks defencer. a simple answer would be nice because i just bought an ecu and was wondering if it was a waste of money. dont tear this thread apart.

cutting the green wires for sohc doesnt work, auto or manual ecu. the ecu will sense that there's no signal coming in and it will automatically go to limp mode, meaning you cant rev past 3.5k rpm or around that. using an auto ecu will only remove the speed governor. if you wanna remove the rev limiter, get ur ecu reflashed or get something aftermarket like what you mentioned (HKS FCD)

yeah i just put an auto ECU on my sohc and shit runs everything just the same as my manual ECU. The only thing was 5th gear does not cut off at 115 mph and my rpm's keep going while my tach gets stuck. it is pretty sweet but i really do not understand why your shit is not working right

I agree, asuming your car is stock, its kinda scary hitting 110+ on a stock setup.

You only need to go 88 mph max.....THEN BACK TO THE FUTURE!!!!!!

There really is no need for going that fast unless you're planning on building the car for track... Then if that's the case, then just get an aftermarket ECU.

The one advantage to having a slushbox. :D
