Ok to give you guys a run down, my buddy was having clutch trouble...ie grinding with clutch pedal pushed down, and hard shifts. So I am thinking TO bearing. Pull the tranny TO is a little rough but not wasted, so we change it out and pull the preasure plate to see what is happening there. We find the disk has a broken spring that has almost ground through the preasure plate fingers. So I am pretty glad we pulled it apart when we did.

Sorry I did not have my digi with me I hope to have some pics tomorrow, I truly was not expecting to find that I thought it was going to be a simple RR.
Ok got pics, first the grind marks on the PP

Now this was only about 5-10 miles of driving after he first heard the noise.

Just finished clutch install...4 hours later ,not bad. I think I may be doing too many tranny pulls, I am getting good at it.

I once had an inner spring come loose (outer spring was still wedged in there sorta). Inner spring bounced around till it caught between something.
Had to drive my car home without a clutch (it can be done).

what's the easiest way to get to the top tranny-to-engine bolts? that's my only fear, i'm gonna spend a couple hours just to get to those bolts.
should i just drop the tranny mount, let the tranny's weight pull down on the engine for the space?
i need to do a clutch change soon, i'd prefer using a lift, but i don't work at a dealership anymore, haha.

I used like 3 or 4 feet in extensions. From further back once you get your extension in there it actually lines up easy, you can tell they designed it in.

one of my friends actually melted the clutch to the flywheel when he blew up the trans in his Sube. I wish I had a picture of it. That shit was ridiculous.
