The other day, the car started hesitating, hold back, feeling like the gas peddle was actually harder!

So, I went and bout engine treatment oil additive. I went and drained my oil. Added new oil, added the treatment, let it run for about 10 minutes. Drained it again, and refilled again.

Now, the problem of the acceleration studder is still there. When I drive on the highway, take my foot o fthe gas the car becomes very jerky. Then today, the car blew black smoke. Not gray, BLACK. The RPM dropped and car died, did this for a couple of hours. Black smoke gone now, just alot of the studdering and jerkyness, along with speradic RPM's.

I also replaced the spark plugs, wires and air filter.

PLEASE! If anyone has any ideas please let me know. I want to change the oil filter, anyone know how i may do this on a 1990 240sx KA24E?

Thank You Again!
Jason

P.S. I use 89 Octane, and lately I been getting a odd sulfer'ish slash rich smell from the emissions.

Did you check your fuel injectors? It might possibly be a faulty fuel injector(s) causing your car to have a bad fuel mixture.

My fuel injectors have been recently checked out to be good.

Tune up, partial. This is what I have done in the last month so far:

New NGK Vpower plugs
New Spark plug wires
New Rotorhead
New Distributers cap
New Air Filter

Oil Change ... plus I did a oil treatment flush.

The one thing i really wanna do is that little tin/metal cylinoid thing. Thinks its the AIV? Not sure, right after the black box. I can not get it open, screws are shot.

Tranni flush pending, along with gear box fluids.

Well, cars at the mechanics cuz I gave up. They cant find the problem either. I dunno! Very odd.

Last night before I brang it in. I was on the highway for about 5 minutes or so, came off. And came to a light when the car started chugging, and then seen the RPMS bounce around with the wonderful black smoke pouring out the exhaust.

PLEASE! If anyone has in ne-way experienced somethingl like this. Please share. Thank you very much.

P.S. Is it possible to have tightened the spark plugs a little too tight? Is that a possibility?

Shit i freaking hope that tightening the plugs to much didn't cause that. I had the same problem w/ my 1990 and i did all the same replacements except for the air filter, which i need to do. My engine studder stopped but i still have blck smoke comming out the xhaust when i go WOT! And now when i try to accelerate passed 5000rpms my rev limiter kicks in, or at least i think it is the revlimiter! It revs to 5000 then drops to 4500 then to 5000 then back down, ect, ect... Just so you don't make the same mistake i did, make sure that if you are looking at your distributor from the drivers front 1/4 panel the cylinder wires should look like this

I also have reset my ecu and it seems to have cured some of the shuttering problems, but i just can't get over the rpm thing??

good luck w/ your car

Well, as far as that goes. Yes the plugs are in right as far as firing order.

I just dont get it! The mechanic says there is nothing wrong with the damn car.

I was wondering if a Transmissoin flush is needed?
I mean, it has been about 30,000 since the last one!
Does the studdering have anything to do with tranni fluid flush?

Thanks again.

You know, the ecu can tell you whats wrong and in MP's case why it's limiting the revs.

Mode 5 diagnostics will give you codes while you're driving to help track down the problem.

Ok. Well, i borrowed my friends code scanner. NOTHING. There is no trouble codes to be found! while idle or running. im totally pissed now.

Wierd, I lowered the octane to 87 though. Funny thing. the car is actually running smoother and less jumpy. Maybe it wasnt burnin like it should?

Oh well. Still a little studder though, no sign of black smoke YET.
