I am in the market for adj. outer tie rod ends for my 240sx. I already have Peak performance inner tie rods, tein outers, and many different suspension arms.
I am looking for ones like Kazama, Namms, etc. I am interested in finding out how many different brands are their in the Adjustable outer tie rod ends, and, opinions from those who have them currently.
I only drift the car and it is lowered quite a bit so I have maxed out the Tein outers.
Also, prices and where to purchase these , at good prices, in So. Cal.
Thanks

kazama is GARBAGE. but they're cool if you drive your car to the grocery store. spl parts? hot sauce bumpsteer adjustment. the inner tie rods are oem z32s but still beefy. no jic inners thats for sure, but beeeeefy none the less. tein? oem style outters, no bumpsteer adjustment. the inners are whats different on tein setup.

Installed a set of SPL outers - Z32 inners with spacers this weekend. Still need more suspension work and a few other problems worked out but I'm pretty happy so far. Road feel is so much better (more bumps) and the steering is crispier. I have a hatch with an S14 cross member, rack, ps set up btw.

How about Nagisa?

They seem to have an angled end to allow for much lowered vehicles.

those are the same as peak performance I believe... I went with SPL and love them. Z32 with spacer and SPL outters and urethane rack bushings. Steering is much much nicer. Would have gone tein but would rather have bumpsteer adjustment

SPL has a big advantage in that they include bump steer spacers. BEEFY ones.

i'd pay for SPL tie-rod ends, vs getting anything else for free! haha

kazama ends have bumpsteer adjustment too.

i have them on mine, (with nothing else done to the suspension except kazama outers, tein inners, hicas front sway, and rack/pinion bushings-polyurethane)

they seem just fine. i don't see any build up on the heim joint either.
finish on them is pretty fuckin clean, but who gives a damn about that.

if the spl's have bumpsteer, and are like $25 less, just go ahead and pick up SPL's. You could probably ask for some sort of Zilvian discount too, and maybe they'll give it to you.
I don't think there would be a noticable amount of difference switching from mine to spl's.

ALL adjustable tie rod ends include spacers. That's what makes them adjustable.

Here's the run down in differences:

SPL tie rod ends use 5/8" (~16mm) chromoly rod ends, Kazama/NAMS use 14mm ends. You can purchase optional bearing seals for the SPL tie rod ends as well.

Construction wise the SPL tie rod ends use steel buckle, 5/8" chromoly shank with 1.25" diameter super duralumin spacers. NAMS is all steel construction. Kazama uses aluminum buckle, steel shank.

SPL tie rod ends are 4 way adjustable for bumpsteer. NAMS is 1 way adjustable. IIRC Kazama is also 1 way adjustable...

SPL tie rod ends have the longest adjustment range on the market, here is a comparison at max adjustment (NAMS vs. SPL):

the SPL rod end isn't fully enclosed like the NAMS one. Why is that, Kuah?

Looks like SPL has more adjustability, but that end-shank's neck looks kinda thin.

Also, with the Nagisa ones, if you flip the neck over, the end bearing changes its' angle. The picture of them together shows the end rod straight, but the body is angled down. Flip it, and the rod comes out and can be reinserted. Now their is increased angle for lower vehicles.

I do like the fact that it looks like you can adjust the SPL tie rod while it is all attached to the rack and the spindle. The Nams seems to only have a threaded body.

KUAH, can you email me or PM me a price? It will be for the Peak performance inner tie rods which are threaded for S14 rod ends. This car is Drift only and can be seen at alot of the monthly events here in So. Cal.

Its just a matter of construction/design. NAMS went with a design where you take a bearing and press it into the housing, we (as well as Kazama) went with a rod end. The 240SX tie rod ends causes some difficulty in design because they are so short, in order to use a rod end both we and Kazama had to modify the rod ends by shortening them. The NAMS design avoids that step. However the bearing (like a 3-piece rod end) has less misalignment angle (the amount of angle the ball bearing can rotate before it hits the housing) compared to a 2-piece rod end like we/Kazama use(~5deg less angle each side), which is why NAMS had to design the ends with an angle to the neck to prevent binding. There is no benefit to the angled neck vs. our design, its in the NAMS design because of the pros/cons of using a bearing like they used.
