So it all started when my buddy (now on this list...SHOW YOURSELF! ) and I are going to check out his newly purchased 1992 HB.
We are at an intersection where there are 3 lanes: one turning right, one straight and one left only. I'm first in line in the middle lane. Now a lot of these punks up where he lives like to pull a fast one and try to race you from the right only lane. This was the case today. A late model Exploder (5-spd) pulls up next to me on the right, just far enough up so I can't see in his window. My buddy looks at me and says, "you got this?" And I said "Ya." So the left only lane gets moving, and I'm awaiting this light. My reaction time was flawless. My tires produced a chirp and I was off. Midway through first, my friend says "hey, stop!" I look to my left, and there is a Grand Am careening through the intersection a good 20-30 seconds after his light turned red! I slammed on the brakes and watched him get T-boned by the Exploder! Both of us shrugged and I put her in first and left the scene! It was so great! Two domestics with one stone! And I didn't even throw it!
The next happening was on my way back from my buddies house. I'm on 495 in MA and theres an S-10 with some meaty tires and a rear shackle lift, in front of me. I pull up to him in the center lane (he's in the left) and as I pass him, he starts accelerating smoothly. I let him get ahead. As he is now about 2 car lengths ahead, I hit it and drop to 4th. He obviously sees me moving on him so he romps it and this black soot flies out (running rich I would imagine) followed by a huge billowing cloud of white/grey smoke! He dropped back and the blinker went on for the breakdown lane! I think that 2.8 gasped its last breath!
So there you have it. After 600+ miles in less than 2 days, my 240 can still put a hurtin on those domestic folk! Thanks for reading!

OK, now that you've let the cat out of the bag you'd better back yourself up. Tell me what exactly is wrong with domestics? I for one don't like that attitude, like it or not. Don't care where it's made as long as it does what it's supposed to do.

I don't like domestics because I have owned domestics before, and so have many of my friends and family members, and they break way too often. In one year my friend spent almost 2k on "unscheduled maintenance" on his Contour. In that time I spent nothing on such maintenance. If "American" vehicles are so good, why do they break down constantly? That is something that is "not doing" what its supposed to, if you ask me.
And besides, now I see that no one can take a joke around here. No one was hurt in the accident, so don't tell me that I'm not sympathetic.

all cars break down, and some are worse than others, it depends how hardly you drive them and some are just going to be worked on more than others...regular maintance is always good too...i dont think you can say that american cars breakdown more than import cars...but hey think what you want...

no, on average i think domestics do break down more then imports....but they definately (in the past few years) been working to fix all that.. .and in the same respect, alot of domestics can run for damn long, look at all the old ass camaros you seen ripping down your local highway, the daytonas, or 5.0s you see getting driven by some old dad, and thats not to mention the real classics out there that been running for years, The Chargers, or like my friends dads Chevelle SS (that shit gives me nitemares)
So i guess it really is how you drive it/treat it... or how muhc money you have to fix it maybe

anyway back on topic, i hope you stay the hell away from my car, your cursed... You seen a Grand Am get T - BONED BY A EXPLORER?!?!?? damn!!! how fast were ya'll going, was it a nasty crash....
god, your a very very bad man peter

Edit: Coldsun the GrandAm was going about 35 when it got hit broadside by the "Explorer", which was going, maybe 20mph. It was quite a loud "thunk" I'll tell you that much!

Not all domestics break down.....just Neons, Caveliers, Contours, Dodge Daytona (haha...my first car) etc .....the econo shit-box sports cars. Every US maker has one. Dont get me wrong, we have some decent cars.....Taurus SHO (engine was made in Japan), Mustang GT & Cobra, some Saturns, Seibring, Focus, Lincoln LS, etc........of course these cars cost $$$. The bottom line these days in the US is that....if you want quality...you have to pay for it, and for those who arent willing to spend the bigger bucks, you get the shit version of the "top tier" model.

Chevy Cheyenne 1500 shortbed: 285k miles. We've replaced the alternator, fuel pump, and clutch.

I still see old domestics on the road all over the place, you can't use a stereotype to prove your point. Consistently the Corvette is rated #1 sports car, Mustangs are one of the best selling, and there was a recent thread about how the Camaro SS even with it's solid rear axle can hold very well in the turns.

I have no problem with somebody preferring imports because of where they are made, but to simply say you prefer them because of some stereotype doesn't bode well.

Oh well, I'm done arguing.

Wow. Good job. You know what you did was illeagal? You were a witness of an accident, you should've stayed there for the police to explain, yet you left like nothing happend!!!! Anyways, good job, fuck domestics, i would've done the same...actually, i did once.
