I was thinking about getting a short throw shifter but decided to stick with stock shifter. I want to swap this stock shifter's bushing.
Is there aftermarket stock shifter bushing available (say bigger size for tighter feel)? Where can I get a replacement stock shifter bushing?

You had a honda didnt you?

We dont have shifter bushings on our shifters it goes straight into the transmission.

You can buy a transmission bushing that is stronger. Your shifter wont look like its going to kill its self.

Just buy a nismo, uras, spl or whatever.

Then, what makes the stock gear shifter feel loose? Besides getting B&M, how can I reduce the freeplay of the shifter lever?

Decided to stay with the stock shifter? Why? Go get a 1 piece B&N style off ebay for $45 bucks shipped and call it I day, I've had one and the car feels great with it, nice and stiff and smooth and short. 3rd to 4th takes me 2 fingers and a flick.

Uhm, there is a shifter bushing.
It's at the end of the shifter. Cusco makes a solid brass? one.
Not sure if it's Brass, but it's a lil bigger than stock I believe.
They make it for AE86 as well, thats where I heard of it, my friend bought one and on the box, there's an application for the 240s as well.

You are lucky not to have any problems right now with your ebay knoff. But likely to have some in the future. So I want to avoid low quality problem. Second, I realized that the current stock shifter is not bad at all. B&M is 3/4 of stock travel.

So any one know how to get rid of wobble in the stock gear shifter?

My C's shifter has an oversized "ball" on the bottom. The bushing doesn't fit.. So I'm just metal to metal. There's no slack though.

Yeah, the Cusco one is like, a metal bushing.
I can probably point you in the right direction of getting one if you were really interested.

I am really interested. Where can I get this small miscellaneous piece from Cusco? Can't find it on the internet.

Tanabe makes an aluminum one. And you can buy a new, undamaged OE one from.........the dealer. You could have used a little common sense on that you know.

But the stock shifter bushing will wear out again. It is also not big enough to give tight feel.

Yes, it is big enough. They wouldn't make a bushing if it wasn't going to fit properly. Your shifter may be poorly designed, or the transmission shaft could be worn a little from shifting without a bushing for a period of time. The given lifespan of a part like that is a good two years or so, at the rate you're going you'll have wrecked the car before then and moved on to the next bandwagon car anyway, so it'll be fine.
