ok i tried searching very hard, and googlin' but i cant find shit on how to 'adjust' coilovers.. i have the apexi coilovers its old school it doesnt have the knob to adjust the dampening, it uses allen wrenches but how do u kno wut dapening ur at ? when it doesnt stop in either way ???, another question.. how do you 'properly' lower it ? from the bottom perch or the upper collar area ? if doing that.. is it normal to have the spring free float around ? obviously it will compress once the car is lowered.. or should i just raise up the lower perch to dump the car ?? any reponse or +added information would be GREATLY appreciated thanks.

I have the Tein Flex's but i imagine most coilover's pretty much work the same way... that is if you have damper, height, and preload adjustability.

If your damper adjustability works the same way, then go all the way hard. I believe in my tein's they are all the way clockwise.. it should stop. If it doesn't then there is obviously something wrong with it. BTW mine doesn't have a knob either, they just provide a tool which is basically an allen wrench with with a TEIN knob on it.

You have two perches. First perch, the springs "sits" on and a lower one that sits right about the strut (again judging by my coilovers and the apexi website pictures i'm assuming they are similar).

The bottom perch controls the height. Make sure that perch is real tight against the strut or it will be tough to do an alignment.

The top perch, right below the spring, is the spring preload. Ideally you don't want the springs to move at all. Ask apexi or other apexi owners what their preload measurements are. It doesn't have to be really exact... its mostly preference... but the spring shouldn't really move.

The two are independent from each other.. if you raise the height perch, you don't need to raise the spring preload or vice versa or invertedly. Unless of course the 2 perches are actuallytouching which is really almost impossible.

I think i covered everything. Thank me now. d=) j/k

your welcome.

and as for the alignment.. they shouldn't have even done your alignment ifyour wheel was shimmying or wiggling(the result when your bottom perch isn't tight against the strut). Go somewhere else, i went to sears and they spotted the problem.. hell they even tightened it for me.. d=)
