i backed up very slowly from a cold start yesterday to pull out of a driveway. car stopped without even needing to brake. instead made this "GRRR" sound to stop. :tweak: a sound something like metal and metal, in between theres rust but its still twisting when it doesnt want to. imagine a big ship pulling up its anchor from the sea - that noise.

when a pads coming to its end, does it start leaning against the rotor? i know for sure that its rubbing because i feel the car slowing me down while i drive compared to other times. or instead of the rotor or pad could it be the ebrake making noise?
i inspected the rear pads, it looks like its rubbing (dont see a gap between pad and rotor), dont konw about the front because this little shields blocking my sight.

you sure the ebrake is released? ;-)

Check if the pads have any life.. Then, if they do, you have a vacuum leak or a leaky brake booster.

sounds like one or more of your calipers may be seized.

most pads have a lil tap on it that will make the breaks scream sounds like metal on metal means replace the pads

Raise the wheels off the ground and turn the wheel by hand. If you feel resistance, your caliper may be seized. This is very common on old Nissans.

Check to see that you parking brake cable is releasing properly and not binding.

If you can't find anything obvious, pull the caliper off and check out the piston and boot. Sometimes the piston will pit and seize up against the boot.

Replace the caliper if necessary. Don't forget to check pads and discs while you're at it.

i hav a leaky brake booster. theres oil around it... im guessing the cause of this is what releases some pressure from the booster for the pads to "relax" on the rotors?

My booster leak actually caused my brakes to lock up.
It puts outward pressure on the piston and on the pedal.. don't know why, but replacing that fixed my issues.

i remember there was 2 different fucntions of brake setup. one was vaccum (i guess the one s13 uses) and the other was pressuring, opposite of vaccum (forgot the specific word).
