I have done the sleepy eye mod by removing the fuse and the lights stay in place when the headlights come on but when I turn on the high beams, the lights go into their full upright position. I was just wondering if this is the case with the headlight pivot controller. Will I be able to keep the sleepy eye position while turning on my high beams? Just wondering cause my lights suck, I can't see a thing at night and the adjusting screws and plates are busted. Lights are pointing to the moon. Putting them into sleepy eye position and turning on the high beams seems like the best solution. Thanx.

How about you actually fix the lights instead of trying to rig them?

You shouldn't drive with High Beams regularly anyway.

I don't even own a pop-up 240 but doesn't the correct sleepy eye mod involve a brown wire?

I got sleepy eyes and it will still pop in full upright position. Btw, why would you want to drive in sleepy eyes during the night? Don't you want to see the road?

There's many different ways to do the sleepy eye mod. You can do it by snipping the brown wire or you can rip out the fuse for the healdight motor and manually adjust them. I drive with them in sleepy eye mode because even if they are in their normal open position, the lights still don't shine on the road. They point way too high and the small metal plate that the screw is attached to to adjust the aim of the lights has snapped, so I can't adjust them anymore. So I use the sleepy eye mod to aim them more towards the road but I think it would be more effective if I could turn on the high beams. So, like the question asks, WILL the pivot controller allow me to turn on the high beams while keeping the sleepy eye position?

If you NEED to do sleepy eyes, why don't you just disconnect the motor, and leave them in high beam mode... IMO Sleepy eyes is stupid and pointless.

Of course, it's purely decorative.

no mang, it will still go up all the way if you turn on hi beam with the pivot controller, just fix your headlights...
you shouldn't be driving around at night with the headlights half down, in fact with the pivot controller if you turn on your low or hi beam the headlights will pop up all the way, it only works with the lights turned off

Thanks jookybanana. That's exactly what I needed to know.

with the pivot controller:
there is a way to use the high beam (flash as in pull the lever towards the driver) w/ the sleepy eye on halfway mode,
cut 1 wire down by the headlight timer/harness by the driver kick panel, don't remember which, if you have the fsm, hopefully you can figure it out if you know how to read electrical diagrams (this one's not that complex)

there's also a way to use high beam (as in push the lever away from driver so it stays on) without clicking (turning) on your headlights but i have yet to figure that out, but it requires messing with the wiring (shouldn't be too difficult either), but the way the pivot controller works, whenever you turn on your headlight (twist turn the lever), it goes up, when you twist turn it off, it'll go to sleepy mode, but it's not true if you flash the high beam or push the lever,

alot of mumbo jumbo, hope it makes sense...

just go to the fucking junk yard and get the peice you need thats currently broken, switch it out, aim headlights correctly, done. jesus, its not that hard. sleepy eye is only for day driving and is mostly pointless exept maybe for some added airflow... maybe.

Or... you can drive like my azz and have the headlights always up.... can't get the damn things to go back down :rant2:

yeah, the intent of the sleepy eye is NOT to operate the lights at night on sleepy mode, fix your headlights

it only looks cool (to some of us), and that's about it, i question that thing about increasing the airflow (as in, will it make a difference... )

if your headlights go up fine, but won't go back down, the problem is likely your headlight stalk, ~$70 new at Performance Nissan
