I took a few photography classes which I failed, but I learned about taking art pictures, and those don't look too good, only the few with pamls, and the fountain look awesome.

Hmm... I'd say out of all of those, the third from the bottom looks best
Good balance between color, intensity and lighting.
I've taken 2 years of photography classes and I know how difficult it can be to shoot in low light situations, but the last two pictures came out alright. You should try using a faster shutter speed because the traffic light in the last picture is a little oversaturated. Not to mention the picture is a TAD bit blurry.
Overall great pictures
Keep it up

i photoshopped the "adobe" in the night adobe one, cuz the lights in the d and b were burned out. other than that i just adjusted the color on a few of em.
i've never taken any photography classes, so i'm just learning by doing and seeing what works
i also didn't know i'd be downtown that long, or i would have brough my tripod with me for the night shots. handheld at night gets kinda tough.

Yeah i know what you mean. Whenever I dont have a tripod I try to find a nice prop surface, like my car roof, a ledge etc.
post more pics if you can

Cool pics.
I just wanted to throw out that you dont need a $500+ camera to take good pictures. As long as a camera has a manual mode you can take awsome pictures. Practice with a point and shoot camera and you can really take advantage of a DSLR when you get one. Dont limit yourself just because you dont have DSLR.
One thing i hate about SAN JOSE, is everywhere you go, there is ONLY Yellow lights. Its hard to find a nice place with white lights. For me i love to take night photos.

i got into photography about two years ago, when i picked up a canon powershot A60. it was the cheapest canon at the time :)
it had manual focus, shutter speed, and f/stop but no ISO so that limited night shots to long exposure only. with the xt i can now take lots of night pics handheld at faster shutter speeds, thanks to the ISO and much bigger lens. can't beat ISO 100 with a tripod though. so much better.
i need to get a good flash now. all my jdm theory pics from last weekend look like poo cuz i forgot my tripod and i hate using direct flash.
i'm thinkin about gettin one of these
